Blue Cross: Do the right thing!

To get started, Click the "Participate" button.

Mega-insurer covers 80 % of Monterey County and is using its clout to:

  • Unilaterally terminate Natividad Medical Center’s contract on January 15, 2012 because the hospital wouldn't accept a 38% reimbursement cut.

  • Force Monterey County employees into a lower CalPERS tier where workers must pay 30% co-pays for hospital care.

  • Apply the same tactic in negotiating with local businesses resulting in less affordable healthcare for workers and our community.

  • Shift the cost of care to the uninsured and safety-net patients and the community. Blue Cross has approximately $80 billion in reserve.

Targeting a community hospital to maximize profits is corporate greed at its worst. Healthcare reform was passed to help working families gain access to affordable health care. Is this a preview of how Blue Cross plans to profit – at our expense – from healthcare reform?

Add your name to this online petition to demand that Blue Cross do the right thing and come back to the table with Natividad Medical Center and negotiate a contract that is fair and affordable for all.
